Life update: In which I go viral...

Updated: Oct 20

Hello!

Since I last wrote, I've had a busy few weeks, writing, editing and catching up with friends and family.

Both Adrian's mum and my mum stayed with us for a few days, and the following weekend our friends Amanda and Andy Campbell came to stay. You will probably know Amanda better as psych thriller author AJ Campbell.

As you can imagine, we had a lot of fun talking about books and writing...

In other news, I went viral last weekend, not just once, but twice!

The ‘Why you should have a cat’ people over on X (formerly Twitter) nicked one of my pictures and posted it on their channel.

Since then the photo has had 4.5k reposts, 57k likes and has been seen 1.7m times.

Crazy, huh?

But it was the comments that tickled me most. They ranged from the sweet:

‘If I find a good work from home job, this will definitely be my set up’, ‘Best coworkers ever’, ‘Me in 20 years’, ‘Dream workplace’, and ‘Wherever this is, I need to work here’. 🥰

To the funny: ‘This lady knows How to Cat’, ‘She’s so organised, each one has a container’, and ‘Picture is definitely fake, there’s no way the cats are actually in the beds specifically bought for them and not lying on the keyboard’. 🤣

To the impolite: ‘This is who JD Vance was talking about’ and ‘…childless, no doubt…’ 😮 [How rude!]

I am now officially a crazy cat lady! 🐈‍⬛

The second time I went (sort of) viral, was in the Psychological Thriller Readers Facebook group. Adrian and I posted some photos of us and our latest releases and asked if anyone knew if there were any other husband and wife psych thriller authors out there.

The response was amazing and the post has had more than 1.8k likes and hundreds of comments.

We loved the chance to chat to lovers of the genre about our books, and we may even have picked up a few new readers along the way, you never know. If you are one of them, welcome!

In book news, I'm gearing up for the launch of my next psychological thriller, Everyone Has Secrets, which will be published in ebook, audiobook and paperback on Monday 21 October.

Everyone Has Secrets tells the story of Eve Griffiths, whose perfect world falls apart when her sixteen-year-old son is accused of a crime he didn't commit...

The book has been proofread and is now being formatted ready for its release.

Meanwhile, the super-talented Tamsin Kennard will be back in the sound booth very soon recording the audiobook.

Tamsin narrated both The Baby and The Photo, and I know a lot of you love listening to her voice.

I can't wait to hear her bring the story to life.

I am still making good progress on the book after that, which will be out in the spring of 2025.

I have now clocked up 33,000 words, though Charlie was less then impressed when he popped onto my desk to have a read the other day...

Thank you, Charlie, for your vote of confidence. Judging by his yawn, I fear the manuscript needs much work before it is fit for human consumption!

That's all from me for now.

Happy reading!

Amanda
