Hello!
It is now less than a fortnight until the release of The Baby and I for one can't wait!
Publication Day is Tuesday 23 April, which is St George's Day here in the UK. Just 13 sleeps to go!
The audiobook, narrated by the supremely talented Tamsin Kennard, will be published simultaneously with the ebook and the paperback, so you can get your thriller fix however you like to enjoy your stories.
Pre-publication nerves are definitely a thing, and I'm counting down the hours to publication with a mixture of excitement and trepidation.
But mainly excitement!
My low-level anxiety has certainly been eased by the first reviews, which have been amazing. Here's a taste of what people are saying about The Baby...
Pretty cool huh?!
The arrival of the first paperback copies last week was also very exciting, especially for the cats, who - like every feline the world over - love an empty cardboard box.
Charlie and Minstrel were on hand ready to help should I have needed it during the compulsory unboxing ceremony!
If you're looking for something to read while you wait for The Baby to come out, I can't recommend my friend AJ Campbell's new thriller, My Perfect Marriage, highly enough.
Protagonist Ashley has moved from London to the countryside with her husband Danny and their son Elliot.
Ashley finds village life claustrophobic, but that’s the least of her problems. Because when a friend is murdered at a child’s birthday party, Danny is found standing over the victim’s blood-soaked body holding a hammer. The question is - did he kill her?
Much misdirection and plenty of red herrings ensure it’s impossible to guess the culprit’s true identity.
I certainly found my suspicions flip-flopping between several of the central characters throughout the book.
And the ending was so tense I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
You can check out My Perfect Marriage here.
In other book news, I should soon be able to share with you the cover and title for my second Bookouture psych thriller, which is out in July.
And I'm now just over two-thirds of the way through the first draft of the book after that. I need to have the finished first draft with my editor by the end of April, which is tight but doable.
At least the looming deadline is giving me the kick up the backside I need to get me at my desk and working!
Speaking of which, I'd better sign off. Did I mention I have a book to finish?!
I'll be in touch on publication day to let you know how you can get your hands on a copy of The Baby.
Until then, take care and happy reading!
Amanda
